Tidy-Up Your Bedroom in 15 Minutes

This strategy won’t deliver a deep clean to your bedroom, but it will get it straightened up pretty quickly. And you must admit, a neat bedroom is much more relaxing to come home too then a messy one.

  1. Gather your cleaning supplies: trash can, basket, cloth for dusting, all-purpose spray, broom/mop/swiffer/vacuum. Keeping a cleaning kit in the hall closet is a great idea for saving time in the future.
  2. Pick up all the dirty laundry and put it into the laundry basket or hamper.
  3. Pick up all the clean clothes lying about the room and refold or rehang them.
  4. Grab all the trash and put it in the trashcan.
  5. Make the bed—come on, you know it looks pretty!
  6. Grab all the items that don’t belong in the bedroom and place them in a basket or bag to put back in other parts of the house later. Don’t put the items away now, wait until the end to save time!
  7. Straighten surfaces like your dresser, night stand, etc. If there are things that don’t belong, add them to the basket and organize it later. Give the surface a quick dusting with the cloth and all-purpose spray.
  8. Sweep, mop, or vacuum depending on what type of flooring you have in your bedroom. Don’t bother with a heavy-duty cleaning and moving furniture (save this for your big clean, or when you weekly cleaners come!) just clean up high traffic areas.
  9. Put your supply kit back in the closet and put items that belong in other parts of the house away.

There you have it. A tidy bedroom in 15 minutes (and maybe less)! This is super simple, and you could even get your kids into this routine so they can keep their rooms tidy themselves!
