DIY Car Kit For Road Trips!

Is your family getting ready for an end of summer road trip or vacation? If so you may want to think about putting together a kit for the car that will keep you all clean, fresh, and happy during your travels. We’ve come up with our list of must-haves for a car kit, but you should of course tailor it to your family’s needs! Remember some things like medicine or food can’t be left in the car year round due to extreme temperature swings. So put together this box and stick it in the car when you are about to hit the road!

DIY Car Kit Supplies: 

  • Plastic Box – To hold it all of course!
  • Tissues – For runny noses.
  • Toilet Paper – You would hate to need it and not have it.
  • Baby Wipes – These are so handy… they clean up spills, clean your hands, can give you a quick freshen up… the list goes on.
  • Hand Sanitizer – Goes without saying.
  • Tide To-Go Pen – For small stains!
  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste – Brushing your teeth always feels refreshing.
  • Mouthwash – Rinse your mouth.
  • Gum – Freshen your breath.
  • Mints – More fresh breath…
  • Travel Sewing Kit – Just in case something breaks!
  • Mini Lint Roller – To get fuzzies off your clothes!
  • Deodorant – To freshen up.
  • Lotion – For dry hands of course.
  • Sunblock – In case you stop and spend some time in the sun.
  • Bug Repellant – In case when you stop there are loads of bugs! We like natural repellants that are free of harmful chemicals.
  • Tylenol – For the occasional headache.
  • Tums – For the occasional tummy ache.
  • Small First Aid Kit – For minor injuries.
  • Ginger Chews – These work great for motion sickness and they taste yummy!
  • Mini Bottle of Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap – This can be used to get cleaned up, fight stains, and wash clothes!
  • Deck of Cards – For having some fun when you stop for lunch or dinner.
  • Mini Notepad – You never know when you will need a piece of paper.
  • Pens – To write with of course,
  • Hair Ties & Bobby Pins – You can never find one when you need one.
  • Feminine Products – This is a must for the ladies just in case!
  • Mini Flashlight – This can come in handy!
  • Napkins – To clean up with.
  • Biodegradable Silverware – Grab some at whole foods near their prepared food section for free!

Simply arrange all of your goodies into a a plastic box and it is ready to go into the car. It is also a great idea to pack a few bottles of water, snacks, and a blanket to keep during the road trip. If you want to get really organized you could pack it all into one larger basket!
